Inclusive Playground

The playground at Walker Rocks Park features nearly two dozen different components, providing children with a high-quality outdoor recreational environment to encourage community health and wellness. These playground activities support the physical, social-emotional, sensory, cognitive, and communicative needs of all children, including those with disabilities

Along with traditional playground components like slides, swings and rockers, several climbing features were integrated in the design to complement Walker County’s outdoor recreational attractions, like Rocktown. The playground also includes a poured in place rubberized service and ramps with barriers to enhance accessibility.

Several new features were added in the summer of 2025, as part of a Land & Water Conservation Fund grant. They include a variety of swings, a zip track, an inclusive carousel, a four 4 all rocker, a swirl, a sensory station, two sensory totems and a sensory summit roundabout, which provides a unique climbing experience for children of all abilities. The climber features a wide basin with defined grips to allow children with limited use of their legs to participate in a climbing activity.

A communication board and a solar powered charging station were also added in 2025.

In 2026, we were able to fence in the park, add additional seating and a water bottle filling station, thanks to a Placemaking grant from the Greater Chattanooga Realtors.

Pavilion

Need a covered space with tables and seating for a birthday party, company picnic or other event? Rent our pavilion. It's located behind the main Civic Center building and features ample parking, a kitchen with double gas grill and bathrooms.

Walking Trail

This newly resurfaced trail is open at all times with exercise stations for the public's convenience, enjoyment, and use.  In order to walk a mile, a person would need to walk around the entire trail one time and then walk halfway around again.

Pickleball Courts


Four new pickleball courts opened April 2026. These are the first pickleball courts in unincorporated Walker County.
 
The U.S. Department of the Interior-National Park Service (NPS) awarded a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant to Walker County to help construct the new pickleball courts, which were constructed by Signature Tennis Courts of Woodstock, Georgia. Courts can be reserved (otherwise they are first come, first served) and tournaments require booking. Private lessons aren't allowed. Dog Park (off leash)

The North Georgia Animal League was granted permission to use one acre of wooded land behind the Pavilion and Walking Trail on the Civic Center’s Campus as an off-leash dog park for the public. This is a fenced area for everyone’s enjoyment. It opened on July 15, 2010. Be advised, this is in a wooded area where snakes have been known to slither about.
