SPLOST is a 1% Special Purpose Local Option Sales tax paid by everyone who makes a purchase in Walker County. This means when a tourist visits Rock City, McLemore or is in town for the Honeybee Festival, they are contributing to our tax base. SPLOST provides funding for specific capital improvements in a community. Walker County voters approved the first SPLOST in 1987 and have renewed it every time it has been on the ballot.
