Rock City Gardens ranks as “one of America’s Top 101 places to visit,” according to National Geographic.  Rock City features massive ancient rock formations, gardens with over 400 native plant species and the breathtaking “See 7 States” panoramic view.

Lula Lake, Pettyjohn's Cave, Lake Winnie, Chickamauga Battlefield and several other attractions offer leisure time outdoor activities.

Rock City Gardens

Located on 14 acres atop Lookout Mountain, Rock City Gardens is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the state of Georgia, with nearly half a million visitors each year.

Chickamauga Battlefield

The Chickamauga Battlefield is a historic landmark not only in the South, but in the United States. With its 5,300 acres, the national park provides more recreational opportunities than most places in the area.

John Ross House

Built before the start of the 19th century by John McDonald, a Scottish trader of wandering loyalty, the Ross House is the oldest remaining structure in Northwest Georgia.

Tennessee Valley Railroad

Traveling by train is another exciting way to experience Walker County. The Tennessee Valley Railroad offers a unique opportunity to view parts of Walker County from a different perspective.

Smith Planetarium

The James A. Smith Planetarium is operated by the Walker County School System. While a majority of their programming is for school children, the Planetarium offers some occasional public programming.

Historic Sites

From Chattooga Academy and the Marsh House to the Gordon-Lee Mansion and Coke Ovens, you’ll find a host of places where you can step back in time and see what life was like in the 1800’s.

Lake Winnepesaukah

This Rossville, Georgia amusement park opened in 1925 and continues to grow nearly 100 years later. Lake Winnie, as the locals refer to it, also includes a five acre water park called Soak Ya.

Wilderness Disc Golf

Along with offering a stunning view, Mountain Cove Farms Resort features an 18 hole, Wilderness Disc Golf Course played by novices and pros from Atlanta, Nashville and miles around.

Recreation

Caving, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and waterfalls are all just a short trek away in Walker County. Some require a Go Outdoors pass from the State of Georgia.
